IN observance to the 2014 Earth Day celebration, the province of Agusan del Sur conducted a tree planting activity to conserve the environment led by Agusan del Sur Sustainable Development Council (ASESDC) in partnership with the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS) and the Municipal Government of San Francisco on April 22.

A total of 1,200 Philippine Rosewood seedlings locally know as Toog were planted by the group at Mt. Magdiwata watershed.
Before the formal tree planting activity, Forester Danilo J. Sarong of PENRO told the participants that the activity was not only just a tree planting but also a Tree Parenting and Tree Growing activity in which the participants not just to plant the seedlings but to nourish and protect it until it grows.
While, Dr. Rex T. Linao, Ph. D. Co-Chairperson of ASESDC explained about the importance of planting trees in Mt. Magdiwata because it has a best source of potable water in the municipality of San Francisco and nearby places.

On July 2013, it was remembered that Mayor de Asis declared an all-out protection campaign against all forms of environmentally destructive activities in the municipality which resulted to the captured of the illegal loggers.
Governor Adolph Edward “Eddiebong” G. Plaza greatly supports the said activity not just as chairman of the ASESDC but as an Agusanon who is keen in protecting and preserving the environment especially in Agusan del Sur.
The provincial executive even said “They can choose between leaving while standing or they will be removed as they lie down dead,” in a radio interview last July 2013 because of the illegal miners caught during a raid in Mt. Magdiwata.
Provincial Administrator Jesusimo  “Nanoy” L. Ronquillo  on the other hand lead in the “Deklarasyon alang sa hugot nga suporta sa KAMPANYA PARA SA PAGDUMALA SA MT. MAGDIWATA (KP2M2)”  which declares the commitment of every Agusanon in protecting the majestic mountain.
